This interactive session invites participants to explore how trustworthy civic education can emerge when people discover what connects them, without overlooking controversy and conflict as normal and productive elements of democracy.
Civic education itself is increasingly affected by shrinking civic spaces and growing scepticism towards institutions and expertise. The challenge is clear: while many educators see dialogue and personal encounters as key to rebuilding trust, they must first (re)gain the trust of those they hope to engage.
The session combines a conceptual introduction with hands-on collaborative work. Participants will be introduced to a practical and easy-to-use framework for designing learning environments in civic education. Building on this framework, they will work together on real-life cases to develop and prototype new formats for fostering trust through civic education.
