In times of distrust, fragmentation, and social fatigue, many civic education initiatives focus on transmitting knowledge or countering misinformation, but fewer create spaces where people can genuinely make sense of complexity together. This highly interactive session introduces dialogue as a participatory, deliberative, and sensemaking practice that helps rebuild social cohesion across differences. Rather than aiming for consensus or debate, participants will experience dialogue methods that foster listening, reflection, curiosity, and democratic trust. Through short experiential exercises, facilitated small-group conversations, and collective reflection, participants will explore how dialogue can help civic educators work with polarisation, emotional tension, uncertainty, and distrust while strengthening democratic culture and relationships. The session is especially relevant for civic educators, facilitators, community organisers, NGO practitioners, and anyone working with diverse groups.
