In this hands-on working session, participants will get a first look at two resources currently being developed by the European Commission: a draft Competence Framework on the EU Dimension of EDC, defining the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values people need to take part in democratic life across the EU, and a draft guidance document to inspire and support Member States in curriculum development, teacher education, pedagogical approaches, and monitoring and evaluation of EDC in their national contexts.

Working in small round tables, you will road-test the competence descriptors and extracts from the guidance against your own experience: Where do they ring true? Where are they unclear or too abstract? And what is missing for educators working across different settings (e.g. polarised or low-trust environments)? A closing plenary will harvest the priorities for revision. During this session, you will also get a chance to share your practices and experiences, and exchange with other educators and experts.

Your feedback will feed directly into the finalisation of these tools, helping shape how EDC is taught and learned in formal and non-formal education across the EU in the years ahead. No prior familiarity with European competence frameworks is needed: fresh, critical perspectives are exactly what this session is for.
