Adult learning for stronger democracies
The session aims to provide participants with an understanding of the history of democracy and the role education has played in shaping different political agendas. In the current geopolitical context, as the world moves towards a new international order, it is easy to fall into the trap of believing that nothing can be done and that we can only witness this new order taking shape. Through practical examples and hands-on activities, participants will be empowered to (re)discover the transformative power of adult learning and education (ALE) in raising awareness, rebuilding trust in institutions, communities, and democratic processes, and reversing the trend of shrinking civic spaces.
