Mahira Karim

Mahira Karim is an advisor for the project “22 July and Democratic Citizenship” at the European Wergeland Centre. She holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from the Norwegian University of Applied Sciences and a Bachelor’s in Development Studies from Oslo Metropolitan University. Driven by a strong commitment to global justice, Mahira has worked with organizations such as the Norwegian Refugee Council, Norwegian Church Aid, and Ethical Trade Norway. Her background also includes experience in journalism and as a trainer with Dialogpilotene and Initiatives of Change Switzerland.

Her academic work includes a thesis titled “A Blind Eye? A Discourse Analysis of Norwegian Police Security Service, 2004–2014”, which explored terrorism discourse in Norway. Mahira brings a unique blend of analytical insight, field experience, and facilitation skills to her work on democratic citizenship and youth engagement.
