First NECE Lab sparks foresight and future literacy discussions
1 June 2023, Madrid
In an exciting event held at the esteemed Fundación Giner de los Riós, the first NECE Lab took place on June 1st. Drawing together civic educators, researchers, and philanthropic organizations from Spain, Austria, Poland, Bulgaria, Germany, and Croatia, the Lab was a dynamic gathering focused on foresight and future literacy in civic education in Europe.
During the introduction, Dr Caroline Hornstein Tomić, Co-founder & Managing Partner of THE CIVICS, delved into the significance of enhancing future literacy competencies in civic education, given the multitude of crises and challenges faced by educators today and in future. A practical training session on foresight methodology was conducted by Wojciech Przybylski from Visegrad Insight, sparking lively discussion on the usefulness of the foresight approach for civic education practices.
THE CIVICS is thankful to the Spanish civic educators who attended the Lab and provided invaluable feedback for the upcoming NECE Festival. The NECE Lab was made possible through the collaborative efforts of THE CIVICS and their local partner, Fundación Europea Sociedad y Educación, with the support of the German Federal Agency for Civic Education. Excitement is already building for the NECE Festival from the 30th of November until the 2nd of December when this fruitful partnership will continue.
